Today was an In-Person meeting at Cedar Crest College starting at 7:30 A.M. There were 16 of us present plus 2 more on line.
Our Greeter was Bianca Rivera. Mitch Huston handled registration, prizes and Happy Dollars.

Lisa Walton is happy for her husband’s birthday and going to the baseball game.
Earnie Bliss is happy to have had a visitor from a senator at his company, and happy that his company is creating a pipeline to help infinitely recycle plastics.
Chris Blechschmidt is happy about the Women’s World Cup and Andrea, our Y.E. student from Croatia 6 years ago, visiting and doing well at Rochester PI and taking his family on a tour of Croatia.
Chris also gave a history of club Banners. He showed some of his favorites.
Gwenn Carr resented an AWRC Banner to Rosario.
Mitch Huston gave happy dollars for the Drum Corps show and all the other festivities Aug 4 & 5.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The August AWRC calendar has events, birthdays and weddings and Rotary anniversaries – cakes indicate birthdays, rotary symbols rotary anniversaries and hearts are wedding anniversaries. Read events with numbers.
A document for recording your service hours from July 1- to July26 was sent around, to include members” hours.
We will be supporting 4 students for our first class of Mongolian 21|21 students. We will know the names of those students in late August.
Please note that this month’s Beacon newsletter compiled by Marlene Heller will have an article about STEM YEA. STEM YEA is a district-wide project, sponsored by the Allentown West Rotary club foundation.
STEM YEA was also included in Vibrant Club News. We held our STEM YEA 2023 Debrief on Monday, July 17. We will return to Kutztown U. next year; the projected dates are July 11-14, 2024.
ANNUAL PICNIC:
The AWRC picnic will be held on August 12 or 13th depending upon the weather. It will be at Gwenn and Gary’s home in Kutztown. Please sign up for the food items you will bring.
We will supply bottled water and ice, please bring what you would like to drink. Please bring chairs, card and other tables and any games that you would like to play. We do have some games that we can set up on the lawns.

Several people volunteered for the membership Committee.
I am very happy to announce that we have been recruiting volunteers to enhance our membership committee. When Herb Klotz returns from the UK, he will set up a meeting with the group. He has a specific plan in mind to guide the committee.
Committee members will have specific roles and responsibilities as we work to grow our membership. That includes providing Weekly Membership Minutes. Bianca, Bill Keba, Helen, Diana, Laurie, Gail and Tori have volunteered to date. Please let Herb, Gary or Gwenn know if you have an interest in joining this group.

Members took a look at the Members sheet. Read the top portion. They answered the questions, then discussed their answers in their groups, including proposing some solutions. Then there was debrief of each table.
ANOTHER NICK MILLWARD PROJECT:
We could use your support!
Starting at 8am on 29 July, my Mongolian friend, Australian friend, and I will be conducting a 24 hour Row-a-thon in Brisbane, Australia to raise funds for a wheelchair program in Mongolia.
We are partnering with Wheelchairs for Kids, Rotary Club of Sumner Park, and a Rotary club in Mongolia to ship over 160 children's wheelchairs to the countryside of Mongolia for children suffering from diseases such as cerebral palsy. The wheelchairs have been
The wheelchairs have been donated but we must raise $8,100 AUD (about $5,500 USD) to cover the transportation costs.
There will be rowing machines set up next to us outside the Anytime Fitness East Brisbane gym and we encourage anyone to come struggle with us for as long as you want. We are also asking for donations. Sponsoring one wheelchair is approximately $50AUD or $35USD.

GREEN THUMB GARDEN:
Gail Micca reports “We have finally caught up with the weeds and the harvesting has begun! If any members can help with harvesting and maintaining our great gardens, please let Gail know!”
YOUTH SERVICES:
Youth Services is finalizing the details on the 3 breakfast meetings for Student of the Month celebrations this year.
YOUTH EXCHANGE:
We still need a second host family for our Exchange student this school year.
IMPACT CLUB:
Diana Dunn is starting the Impact Club. She is meeting with various potential members and checking on various activities that they could perform.
SNACK PACKING:
The next Snack Packing event at Parkland is in September.
The NWL Snack Packing date is in September.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD DISTRIBUTION:
Herb Klotz reports that the AWRC volunteers at the July 8 Kingdom Life Food Distribution were Ernie Boil, Ron Coleman and Herb. There were over 400 cars. We worked for about 4 hours from 7:30-11:30.
The upcoming date for Kingdom Life Food Pantry Giveaway is
August 12.
Each time we start at 7:30 A.M. and usually are finished by 9:30 A.M. Volunteers are needed. The June delay is due to lack of volunteers.

PARKLAND C.A.R.E.S. PRODUCE DELIVERY:
The Pantry will hold its food distributions on the first Saturday of each month for all of 2023.
Three volunteers are needed each time.
Food collections for Parkland C.A.R.E.S. will be held the third Wednesday of each month at the Pantry on Kernsville Road.
MEALS ON WHEELS:
Meal delivery by AW Rotarians takes place twice each week. Helen Papathanasiou always needs substitute volunteers.
MEETING SCHEDULE:
The second and fourth Wednesday of each month are In-Person meetings at Cedar Crest College.
The first Wednesday of each month will be a Dining Out meeting, or equal. It might not be on a Wednesday.
The third Wednesday of each month will be reserved for AWRC committee meetings to which everyone is welcome.
FUTURE TOURS, ETC.:
All members are asked to make suggestions to Gail Micca about other tours, Dining Out events, etc. for future meetings.
