We are recruiting volunteers for May 18 to do our Rotary Environmental Project. We will plant trees at Earl Adams Park with the Allentown Rotary Club.
The Chili Cookoff is May 19; tickets are $25 per person, and each couple or family attending is asked to provide a potluck dish. We will coordinate with you to ensure that we have a variety of dishes. Please bring gift cards and bottles of cheer to our next in-person meeting. The website to purchase tickets is www.rotarychilicookoff.org
PROGRAM
Today's meeting took place at Parkland High School, where we honored our Interact students.
Interact officers:
Timothy A. Dorsey is a proud Trojan, who enjoyed his pre-high school studies at Cetronia Elementary and Springhouse Middle Schools. Timothy throws shotput for the Indoor Track Team, discus for the Parkland Track & Field team, and played basketball for the Intramural Division of the South Parkland Youth Association (winning the SPYA 12th grade Championship this year). Timothy is an active member of Interact, as well as the National Honor Society. In his free time, Timothy likes weightlifting, trail running, watching movies and television shows, and playing video games. After graduating this June, Timothy plans to study Business Administration at Seton Hall University, Fairfield University, or Lehigh University.
Nikhil Sehgal was born in New Jersey. He moved to Lehigh Valley when he was two years old.
At three he started preschool at St. Joseph The Worker Church and then went to Grace Montessori for his pre K and Kindergarten. He then came to Parkland and went to Kernsville Elementary and Orefield Middle School.
He was four years old when he started learning Karate and went on to earn 2nd degree black belt. He also plays trombone and has been in the High school Marching Band and Jazz Band. He also enjoys the aero tech club at PHS where he gets to design airplanes.
After graduating from High School he plans to study Engineering and is looking forward to start college. Although, he is still undecided on the undergrad college that he will attend.
NEXT MORNING MEETING IN-PERSON
May 8 at Cedar Crest College. The topics will be the “Field of Honor” project. Our speaker will be Earnie Bliss; “Joshway”; our speaker is David Robertson.
TRIBUTE CARDS
First and last pages of tribute cards, to be used to send a donation in someone's honor, memory, to celebrate, or just because. The photo is of the Weber's farm, site of many fun AWRC picnics. On the back is an explanation of what Rotary is all about.
Inside the card, the text explains that a donation has been made to AWRC and there is room for you to write the reason for the card, and who it is from. A pack of 5 cards is $25. You can purchase the cards at in-person meetings or order on the website (an extra cost will be added for postage). All proceeds will go to the AWRC Foundation. Questions? Contact: [email protected]

Make it your business to share your Rotary story! When you meet someone who isn't aware of all Rotary has to offer personally, professionally, and to the world, it's an opportunity. Let them know you are one of the 1.4 million people in the world who make the world better by serving the community.
Offer them the chance to join us for an activity or a meeting to learn more. If you don't ask, they won't know! Be a Rotary Ambassador!
