Today was an In-Person meeting at Cedar Crest College starting at 7:30 A.M. There were 22 of us present plus 3 more on line.

Ron Coleman led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag.

PRIZES:
The door prize of an AWRC mug donated by Gwenn Carr was won by Bianca Rivera.
The $8 of the 50-50 was won by Bill Weber.

Volunteers ARE needed for Das Auch Fest.
AWRC FINANCES:
Treasurer, Gary Englehardt, reviewed a hangout noting that The AWRC operating account has about $29,00 in it, and the planned expenses are $27,000.
But the Foundation account that funds our projects is about $2,000 short. So we need more money to fund all of our projects.
YOUTH SERVICES:
Gail Micca reviewed suggestions for students of the month. The plan is for 3 breakfast events with 2 students honored at each.
EXCHANGE STUDENTS:
Sue Weber said we will receive an Exchange student from Italy coming in August. He i7 17 years old and his name is Francisco. He will attend Northwest Lehigh HS.
We Need another host family; we have just one now.
Our current Y.E. student, Samuel from Germany, he enjoyed a sendoff dinner with 10 Rotarians. He said he had a wonderful year’
COMMUNITY SERVICES:

IMPACT CLUB:
Herb Klotz explained that we are considering starting a subsidiary club as part of AWRC.
An Impact club is a group of people who are interested in service, but aren’t at all interested in meetings. This idea has been working very well -- there are 40-50 such clubs in the mid-Atlantic and central USA.
Advantages: Don’t have to deal with administration. There is a host club: we would be a host club. Don’t need officers; host club provides that. Also, dues structure would be lower. Net positive for our club because we are bringing in more $ than we send out. Rotary has been declining in membership this century, and this helps to grow it and find people with a heart for service.
Diana Dunn: When I first heard about it I was excited, because it was a way to attract people who were not initially interested. Weekly meetings turned people off. When I retired, people I socialize with, in my demographic, when I reach out to them, have more interest. I’ve been working with Community Bike Works. We interviewed the woman who runs it, and they do so much more. She also runs a food pantry. I’m meeting other organizations in the LV to see where we can get involved.
STEM YEA SUCCESS:

DINING OUT:
August will be our annual Picnic and it will be held at Gwenn & Gary’s home on August 12 or 13, depending on the Weather.
SNACK PACKING:
The next Snack Packing event at Parkland is in September.
The NWL Snack Packing date is in September.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD DISTRIBUTION:
Herb Klotz reports that the AWRC volunteers at the July 8 Kingdom Life Food Distribution were Ernie Boil, Ron Coleman and Herb. There were over 400 cars. We worked for about 4 hours from 7:30-11:30.
The upcoming date for Kingdom Life Food Pantry Giveaway is
August 12.
Each time we start at 7:30 A.M. and usually are finished by 9:30 A.M. Volunteers are needed. The June delay is due to lack of volunteers.
Come and help next time.
PARKLAND C.A.R.E.S. PRODUCE DELIVERY:
The Pantry will hold its food distributions on the first Saturday of each month for all of 2023.
Three volunteers are needed each time.
Food collections for Parkland C.A.R.E.S. will be held the third Wednesday of each month at the Pantry on Kernsville Road.
MEALS ON WHEELS:
Meal delivery by AW Rotarians takes place twice each week. Helen Papathanasiou always needs substitute volunteers.
MEETING SCHEDULE:
The second and fourth Wednesday of each month are In-Person meetings at Cedar Crest College.
The first Wednesday of each month will be a Dining Out meeting, or equal. It might not be on a Wednesday.
The third Wednesday of each month will be reserved for AWRC committee meetings to which everyone is welcome.
FUTURE TOURS, ETC.:
All members are asked to make suggestions to Gail Micca about other tours, Dining Out events, etc. for future meetings.
NEXT MORNING MEETING IN-PERSON:
Wednesday, July 26 at Cedar Crest College starting at 7:30 A.M.
The program will be our Presidential Committee for an AWRC Health Check.
