Gwenn Carr opened the meeting at 7:30 A.M.
Pastor Jean Masiko gave a very nice invocation.
Ron Coleman led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag.
Gwenn Carr led us in reciting the Four Way Test, and added “Is it Fun?”
Documents for recording our service hours were being circulated. Members are to provide your hours.
Sign-up sheets to volunteer for the Highway Cleanup and for Lowhill Food Pantry were being circulated.
Membership moment - September is Basic Education and Literacy Month for Rotary. This is one of Rotary’s six areas of focus. We all know how critical reading and writing are for success in life.
There is a Rotary Literacy Rotary Action Group (LITRAG). This is a worldwide network of Rotarians with a special interest in alleviating illiteracy, enhancing literacy teaching and learning globally, and helping to provide materials and equipment for literacy education. Our Rotarian of the Month is Patty Mulqueen. Patty came to the aid of Amir and one of our Afghan families. Amir seeking a stroller for the family who recently had a child. Patty provided not only the stroller but a car seat as well!

SNACK PACKING:
The next Snack Packing event at Parkland is in September.
The NWL Snack Packing date If we start in October, it will be the 3rd Wednesday starting at 2:00. Each month will be the 3rd Wednesday from 2-2:35.
KINGDOM LIFE FOOD DISTRIBUTION:
Due to anticipated stormy weather, Sept 9 food giveaway at Kingdom Life Food Bank was rescheduled for Saturday, September 23. Much help is still needed.

PARKLAND C.A.R.E.S. PRODUCE DELIVERY:
The Pantry will hold its food distributions on the first Saturday of each month for all of 2023.
Three volunteers are needed each time.
Food collections for Parkland C.A.R.E.S. will be held the third Wednesday of each month at the Pantry on Kernsville Road.
MEALS ON WHEELS:
Meal delivery by AW Rotarians takes place twice each week. Helen Papathanasiou always needs substitute volunteers.
MEETING SCHEDULE:
The second and fourth Wednesday of each month is In-Person meetings at Cedar Crest College.
The first Wednesday of each month will be a Dining Out meeting, or equal. It might not be on a Wednesday.
The third Wednesday of each month will be reserved for AWRC committee meetings to which everyone is welcome.

This presentation provided an overview of the amazing work accomplished in Kenya during a two-week trip by a group of women of action. The trip resulted from a Rotary Global Grant and was accomplished in November 2022.
The Rotary story of how we can connect, identify community needs, and utilize grants to provide services and resources is a story of how we all can do the same through our participation in Rotary.
Using many slides, Janet reviewed the details of how the trip came about. The Global Grant had a partner RC in Kenya. She reviewed the key players and the details of what the grant will fund.
As a result of the trip a second project was identified and a District Grant has been established for that work.
